Bathing in the North

The north coast of Tenerife is beautiful, but its waters are rough and access to the sea is not as easy as in the south and west of the island. However, there are places where you can take a bath and swim. They are all small, with black sand or stones, but with its own charm.

BEACHES:

  • Punta de Teno beach. - Google Maps location.
    • If you go by car, it is closed Thursday to Sunday and holidays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. so you have to take la guagua (the bus).
    • I have gone riding a bicycle from Garachico and the experience was even better.
  • Garachico beach. - Google Maps location.
  • The Caletón de Garachico. - Google Maps location.
    • Only with calm sea you can access the water.
    • Many times it is closed due to rehabilitation or bad seas.
  • San Marcos beach.
EL LAGOMARTIANEZ: A beautiful work of art to enjoy the water and the sun, located in Puerto de la Cruz. - Google Maps location.

SWIMMING POOLS:
Although I prefer swimming in the sea, the northern sea tend to have dangerous currents, so if you are swimming long distances it is better to go to a pool and you do not have to get too far from Icod. Most are with slightly heated seawater.

Los Silos Pool - Google Maps location .

Garachico Pool. As far as I know, closed for now. - Google Maps location.
